A little shade.
A more thoughtful SPF.

I like keeping sunscreen within easy reach, whether I’m heading out for a walk or spending an afternoon by the water. It belongs in the daily routine alongside a good cleanser and moisturizer.

What matters to me is finding a formula that suits your skin and being consistent about using it. The label and the way you apply it both deserve a little attention.

A closer look at Epicuren’s mineral sunscreen

Epicuren Zinc Oxide Perfecting Sunscreen SPF 27 uses 10% zinc oxide as its active ingredient. Its packaging identifies broad-spectrum protection, and its formula includes glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and botanical oils.

For someone who prefers a mineral sunscreen, this is a formula to look at more closely. I’d consider how it feels on your skin, how it fits with your other products, and the protection you need for the day.

This formula is SPF 27. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher.

Match your protection to your plans

If I’m swimming, surfing or working up a sweat, I look for a sunscreen specifically labeled water resistant. Check the bottle for how long that protection lasts, and reapply as directed.

For outdoor time, apply generously to exposed skin and reapply at least every two hours, as well as after swimming or sweating, following the label. A hat, protective clothing and shade belong in the plan too. An umbrella is helpful, but it doesn’t replace sunscreen.

Read the directions on your bottle

Epicuren instructs users to shake well and apply liberally 20 minutes before sun exposure. Always follow the current package directions and check the expiration date.

Keep it simple: apply enough, remember to reapply, and make a little room for shade. Those habits matter every time you head outside.
