Skincare / Face / Surf & water
One of his favorites.
Session after session.
My husband surfs every day, so sunscreen is something we take seriously in our house. He’s had several skin cancers removed, and he wants to be as careful as possible about protecting his skin while he’s in the water.
He’s tried a lot of sunscreens. Badger’s Adventure Sport SPF 50 is one of the two he puts at the top of his list for surfing and water activities. He wears it for his daily surf and says it works really well for him.
Why this one is worth a look
A recommendation means more to me when it comes from someone who keeps reaching for the same product in real life. In his case, that’s early starts, salt water and time on a board.
His preference is personal, but this sunscreen also has clear protection details to consider: broad-spectrum SPF 50, 25% zinc oxide and 80 minutes of water resistance. Those are useful facts to look for when choosing a sunscreen for an active day.
A simple formula in a tin
Badger lists four ingredients: zinc oxide, sunflower oil, beeswax and sunflower vitamin E. The formula is unscented and comes in a compact metal tin.
It’s a waterless cream, so I’d expect a different application experience from a thin lotion. Apply generously and rub it in as directed; using less to avoid a visible mineral cast can leave you underprotected.

Water resistant still means reapplying
The 80-minute rating isn’t permission to stay out all morning without another application. The label says to apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying, and at least every two hours.
For a longer surf, that means planning a break to reapply. Outside the water, shade, a hat and protective clothing are part of the routine too.
A favorite, with perspective
My husband’s history makes this a personal subject for us. His recommendation comes from using this sunscreen, not from a claim that any one product provides complete protection. Sunscreen doesn’t replace dermatology follow-up, especially after skin cancer.
If you’re looking for a mineral option for water activities, this is one I’m happy to put on your radar. For him, it has earned its place among the favorites.
